Nanowrimo 2011 is Over

Nanowrimo 2011 is officially over, and once the flurry of dust and debris and clickety clackety has died away wrimos everywhere will be divided into two groups - those who did finish, and those who didn't.  Where do you fall in?

By the Seat of My Pants

  So it is Nanowrimo's Eve and I still don't have an outline.  Normally, that would be a bad thing.  You see, every year prior, I've had a semi-decent outline of Story, Characters, places, etc.  And every year I have failed to meet the 50,000 word challenge.  This year, however, I'm not too concerned.
  I have the protagonists' and antagonists' basic profiles figured out, and a very basic premise for the story, and that's it.  I plan on writing by the seat of my pants, and I'll figure out all the little details about the story as I write it.  Now I don't plan to just write willy-nilly without some organization.
  I'm going to use Yarny, a wonderful and powerful writing web-app.  Yarny has a character, location, and item section to add notes and such to.  Using the character sheets from the Scriptorium, I create a full character profile.  As I write, if I add something that will affect the character's basic "self" then I will jot it into their character profile.  As I add locations, I will create a location profile for each location.  Same goes for any special items.  What this will do is allow me to still be flexible, but at least semi consistent.
  So, for those of you who are also going to write from the seat of your pants, good luck!  Whether good or bad, the bright side os there's always time after Nanowrimo to edit, and work out the kinks and inconsistencies.

NaNoWriMo is almost Here!

  The title says it all.  NaNoWriMo (short for National Novel Writing Month) is almost upon us.  And, like most years, I'm totally un-prepared.  However, I'm using a different method of writing this year to see if that helps me keep my distractions at bay.  I'll be using the super awesome web-app Yarny, which you can see the review over at FleshEatingZipper.  For those of you who have no idea what NaNoWriMo (which I will shorten further to just Nano) is, check out my brief article from last year.

Nanowrimo Week 4

Sadly, it looks like this year is another year of failing Nanowrimo.  On the bright side, I have written 6x the words I wrote last year.  If I keep up that kind of math, I'll win in the next two years!  The book itself is turning out very well, better than I could have expected, however my level of dedication to the thing is not up to par.  I will continue working on the story, slowly, and by next year I'll have a sequel to use in Nanowrimo.  Next blog will be about Data Backups, so stay tuned.  Until next blog...

Nanowrimo week 3

  All of last week I didn't write a single word, or so it feels.  Let me look at my handy-dandy nano-chart and see.  1, 2, 3, 4...looks like 8 days total with no writing.  It's been a busy week with school and work, mainly work, and the whole socializing whatnot.  My characters are developing well, however as I have decided to procrastinate a little further I can now add fun little details while browsing the web or whittling away precious minutes with some video game or another.  Today I'll do some nano-ing, and hopefully can write more than 3000 words a day to make up lost time.  And on that, it's time to NANO!  Until the next random post...

Introduction and Word Count

  This is the first post I'm making in my blog, and a second attempt at this whole "web log" business.  My purpose and idea for this blog is to 1) keep me motivated about writing, and 2)have a place to ramble, rant, rave and carry on.  I imagine some posts will be about technology and gadgets, while others may be about a book or article, and other still may be about my personal life.  It should be interesting, so thank you for joining me for the ride.  On to NANOWRIMO!
